Spring Break-Part Two

For part two of our spring break we flew from Minneapolis to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.  I think if someone had ended up with our luggage by mistake they would have wondered what on earth we were up to-snow pants, gloves, snow boarding helmet, ball gown, elbow length gloves, dresses and shoes for a luncheon, etc..etc...

Our friend Britton was king of the Hermes crew so we were invited to many fun events.  Here is a photo of Britton and Sheila at a luncheon at Antoines.  Yum!

A parade watching party at the Elms mansion.  It was nice to be able to run in for food and drinks in between parades.

Sweet Shelby

On Saturday we went to the home of one of our neighbor's parents.  They live on St. Charles so we had a perfect parade watching spot.  Here is Mignon giving K some bead catching tips and Liza looking like a pro.

I'm no dummy I stayed on the balcony with Mignon's father and watched the parade.

The kids took a break between parades to come up and sort out their beads.  Who would not want to hang out in this gorgeous home???

The end!

Spring Break-Part One

Part one of our spring break involved a whole lot of cold!  Complete with sub zero temperatures, polar bears, sledding, snowboarding, snowshoeing and ice skating.  Brrrrr!!!!  We stopped at Starbucks for hot chocolate at least three times a day.

A visit to the zoo-this polar bear and a wolf were the only animals who were out

Karina was trying to get sweet Jackie to push her back up the hill

Snowboarding

Snowshoeing-harder than it looks!

An attempt at ice skating one evening with cousins Becky and Jackie but the rink had not been cleared so we ended up at Caribou for hot chocolate instead

Birthday Girl

K turned eleven this week.  We celebrated with a friend, K's godparents and cousin Bill at K's favorite restaurant.  The best part of the day was breakfast in bed!

One Fine Day

We finally have beautiful weather. On Saturday K had a friend over so I suggested that they go out and enjoy the weather. A little later I happened to look out my bathroom window and noticed they were outside enjoying the weather and a movie on K's portable DVD player.

Back Up Plan

K and I spent three days making Valentine cookies for her class.  We finally threw in the towel today and I was so glad that I had bought candy as a back up plan.  Puzzle cookies with edible paper valentines that are attached with corn syrup=one big sticky mess!

Who Let the Dogs Out?

While the rest of the world was getting ready for the Super Bowl we went to a dog show with our neighbors.  The kids had a great time checking out all of the different breeds of dogs.  It is amazing how many different kinds of beautiful dogs there are.
It is hard to believe that the little neighbor who I used to babysit and help with his homework is now driving.  And he babysits for K and helps her with her homework.  Only one mishap at the dog show, he ran over a dog bone (I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried) and my neighbor's car got a flat tire.  The kids were happy because it meant that we got to spend extra time at the show while waiting for tire to be fixed.
