Adeline

Last year when K was in 4th grade she was asked to join the 6th grade art club.  The club members had to choose a famous painting and reproduce it.  K choose Adeline by Van Gogh.  Adeline was the young daughter of the innkeeper when Van Gogh stayed while her was in Auvers.  I think K did an amazing job.

Pumpkin

K did her second pumpkin of the season. I am always amazed at how patient and fastidious (complete opposite of how I operate) she is when she is working on a project.  She cleaned the seeds and we roasted them with a little olive oil and salt.  Yum!

Bucket List

For K's fall break we took a trip to south Florida.  The bad news was that it rained for three days.  K jumped for joy on the last day when we finally had great weather.  We had planned to go to Billy Bob's Swamp World with some friends and Uncle Mark but decided it was too nice to spend so much time in the car.  Our friends called and suggested swimming with dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium.  Swimming with the dolphins has been at the top of K's bucket list so she was really jumping for joy.  The weather stay nice and we got a little fishing in at the end of the day.  Also went to see the Beatles Rain during all of the rain.  K is not sure if the Beatles are going to make it.  But she liked the show.

The Blessing of the Animals

You cannot imagine the chaos at the blessing of the animals.  Photos don't begin to portray things-lots of tangled leashes and dogs making new friends.  I am always amazed by the cats.  At one point one of the priests was sitting with a cat on his lap and the cat gazing up at him adoringly.

Puppy Love

Check out Sheila's new puppy, Bella. I just love puppy breath and puppy teeth.  And speaking of puppy love, according to K there has been a lot of heartbreak this year in 5th grade.  Oh my!

Fifth Grade!

School started today.  Note that K's uniform is the proper length.  Only problem-this was the only uniform that the uniform store had.  Uniforms are on back order.  Could be a lot of laundry going on around here.

K is still on the same campus but in a new building (5th and 6th grade only) and she has a locker and has to change classes this year.  This is causing a lot of angst.  I will be so glad after she gets though the first couple of weeks and gets the routine down.  And even happier when her uniforms arrive.  And how about those Ferragamos that our neighbor gave us last year?  They are K's favorite shoes and she is starting to out grow them.  Just my luck!

Summer Vacation-Part III

The third phase of our summer vacation was a trip to Aspen.  Wonderful to be in the cool, crisp air.  I worked a lot but our Aspen friends kept K busy (thanks Kimmie!).  K also went to a fake fighting camp-part of an acting camp.

K did some of this

We spotted some elk on Owl Creek Road and in Kimmie's driveway one evening

A beautiful sunset on Owl Creek Road

Can't go to Aspen without spending an evening at the rodeo with Kimmie

A little mechanical bull riding-K made it to level two

Calf scramble

A little rain at the rodeo resulted in a beautiful rainbow, actually a double rainbow-see the other rainbow on the right side of the photo

We always take a ride up the gondola

Checking out the town from the gondola

The end!
