St. Nick's Day

An announcement was made last week at school that St. Nick had been spotted in the area and all of the children needed to put one of their shoes outside of their classrooms. While the children were all sequestered, a group of moms ran frantically around the school putting bags of candy in the shoes.

Yikes-I think K needs a new pair of shoes!

This girl's mother thought it would be funny to add a lump of coal!

Family Advent Evening

K's school had a fun family advent evening. K made an advent calendar and we ate a yummy dinner. K's favorite part was roasting marshmellows after dinner!

Cousins

I have always thought that I was very lucky because my parents were both from big families. My mother was one of four girls and my father was one of eight children. All of the siblings also had a lot of children so I have been blessed with lots of cousins. We were all very close when we were growning up and have remained so over the years, even though we are now spread from Seattle to Boston. Here is an iPhone photo of K welcoming the newest cousin into the family. Little one month old Trevor, the son of Holly, the youngest cousin on my mother's side of the family.

Soccer Fun

K played soccer this fall with friends from her old school. She really enjoyed getting to see them-she misses them all so much. Keely's dad coached the team-he is so patient and the girls made so much progress and really learned to play well as a team. Keely's baby sister, Dovie, came to all the games. She is just too cute!

Puppy Love

I was having lunch with a friend last week and mentioned that I thought I was finally ready to get a new dog and that I was sure when the time was right the right dog would come into our lives. The next thing I knew she had emailed a friend who she thought might know of a dog. Sure enough, she had just the right dog for us! Within hours we had spoken and made arrangements to meet Luna. It was love at first sight for K. Luna is a wonderful five year old golden retriever. She was a show dog and then retired to be bred but got an infection after her first litter of puppies-9 boys and 1 girl. She then went to Canine Assistance to help handicapped people. Unfortunately, the wheelchairs made her nervous so once again Luna needed a new home. We think she is in her forever home! She is so sweet, we absolutely love her!
