Spring Break 2015

We went to CA for spring break-4 nights in Orange County and 4 nights in LA.  Lots of shopping, eating, hanging out with friends, pool time, TMZ bus tour (we are nerdy that way!) and a comedy club (note to self-inappropriate for young children also means inappropriate for teens).

I had taken K's phone away for midnight texting and a few other things.  I decided not to bring our iPad so we could have a technology free trip.  Unfortunately I forgot my iPhone.  Spending 8 days with no technology was difficult-especially since we had plans with friends and getting in touch was difficult.  But is all worked out and we survived!  I didn't have my camera so the only pictures that I have are the one Stacy texted me.

K's favorite part of the trip.  Hanging with Stacy's hairless cats.  She really, really, really wants one.

K doesn't look too happy for someone surrounded by cute boys!

Stacy (AKA Martha Stewart West) made K this cute easter basket

The Dog Whisperer

The day that one of the big storms was supposed to hit I was running to work out and spotted a doberman in the middle of the street.  I pulled over to help and another woman was trying to get him to come to her.  He was very wary and would not come to either one of us.  I went on to my class and an hour and half later he was still in the same spot.  He would not come to me.  A woman was pulling out of a driveway and told me he had been there all night but would not come to her.  I went home to get some food and K.  I put a bowl of food out and he ate all of  the food.  It was freezing so I got in the car to warm up and told K to see if she could get him to eat more.  The next thing I knew he was in the car in her lap, licking her face.
We were able to get to the Humane Society before they closed because of the bad weather and he was chipped.  We contacted the owner and arranged to meet.  The dog lives close to downtown so he was pretty far from home.  His owner doesn't work too far from where we live.  The odd thing is why he stayed in the same spot for 24 hours.  So glad that had a happy ending!

Fifteen!!!!!

How is it possible that K is 15????  For her birthday we went to Neiman's and had her makeup done.  Her comment was "Oh Lordy I look like a Kardashian."  I think she has been living in the south too long.  She looked like she was about to cry.  So went went to Sephora and used some makeup remover to take all of the makeup off.

Then we stopped at Saks and had her makeup done and she was much happier.  She looks more like herself!

K and her cousins went to Midevil times for dinner. She loved it. So sweet of them to take her! William got into med school and is leaving Atlanta. We are so sad but we think it is so cool that he is going ot be a fourth generation doctor! And Nataly has a job in Chicago.

Winter Break

Winter break was a quick trip to Naples to visit BFF Bevie.  Like the rest of the country it was cold so there was no beach time.  We ate a lot and shopped.  Can't go wrong with a trip like that!

King Cake

We are gearing up for lent so K made a king cake.  Last year we ordered our king cake from Sucre in New Orleans and some years we get our king cakes at Whole Foods.  This year I ordered a kit from King Arthur Flour and the cake turned out really well!  But the kit didn't include a baby.  And I couldn't find any of our babies from years gone by.  That's what I get for being the opposite of a hoarder.

Christmas 2014

Christmas was a bit of a blur.  Our house was under construction until the week before so I did not do much decorating.  Poor K had her tonsils out the day after Christmas.  It was rough!  The first few days were not so bad but as time went on the pain became worse and worse.  She is finally feeling better.  She really doesn't like ice cream so she has been eating mashed potatoes and risotto.

Went to this annual and always fun party.  Look at how big Evan and Jake are getting.  Why is it that Sheila and Lisa never seem to look any older????

If you look really hard you can see our Christmas tree.  Waiting for curtains and more help from Gerrie Bremmerman.

Traditional Christmas dinner with these favorite people.

And then early, early the next morning it was off to get the tonsils out.

Didn't get enough of our favorite friends on Christmas so had them for dinner the day after K's surgery.

K was feeling well and entertained.

Apparently Olivia was not impressed.

And these two came to visit.

Thanksgiving

Since we have no kitchen we decided to go out for dinner this year.  Charlotte and her mother drove down from South Carolina and Natalie and Bill joined us.  After dinner we went to Sheila's for more desert.  I only stayed for a few minutes because I had to go home and give Bert his insulin.

Charlotte and K decided that they wanted to spend more time together but Charlotte had something she had to do at home on Friday.  So Saturday her mother and I met half way and Charlotte came home with us.  We will do the exchange again this afternoon.

One of K's bucket list items is a banana split.  So we stopped at Dairy Queen (where else is there to stop on I 85 in north Georgia???) and she checked this item off her bucket list.
