Ice Jam 2014

Or perhaps the title should be Goat Rodeo 2014.

 The time line:

At noon it started to snow.  I decided to run a couple of errands.  Got an automated call from school saying school would be open until 6PM and that there would be school on Wednesday.

1:00  Winston called and said he was on I75 and it was really bad and I better go get "little girl" and stay off 75.  I stopped at Whole Foods and left at 1:20.  Traffic had gotten really bad in the 20 minutes I was in Whole Foods.  I stayed on backstreets but still had to get on Peachtree for a bit.  It took me an hour to go one mile.  I had 9 miles to go.  Tried calling K's driver to see if she was picking up the other kids she drives.  I got voice mail twice.  I was near a MARTA station so called the school to ask if someone could get K to the MARTA station that was close to the school I could take MARTA and pick her up.  They did not like that idea.  As it turned out there was a fire on MARTA so it was all messed up.

2:30 Driver called she was on the way to school near downtown and would pick up kids by 3:30. I headed back home.  I had been concerned that the Tesla battery would die.  It uses more energy when the heat is on, seat warmers, etc....  Also had talked to a friend who was stuck in traffic and had to pee.  Made the call not to drink the juice I had picked up at Whole Foods even though I was so thirsty.

3:30 Driver called-she had only gone a mile.  I was back home.

5:30 Cousin of the other kids picked the kids up and  took them to her house.

6:30 Driver picked kids up at cousin's house.

8:30 K finally arrived home.  I'm really amazed they made it home!  Poor driver had been driving for 7 hours.  K loved the adventure.  Had video of people pushing an ambulance that had skidded backwards and almost went off a bridge.  Other people had to push the car K was in up a hill.

I have to call pants on fire on our mayor who was on the Today Show this morning claiming that the pictures that the Today Show was showing were not actually of Atlanta.  The school they were showing was our neighborhood elementary school.  The highway sign was Mount Paran right here in our neighborhood!
