We finally have beautiful weather. On Saturday K had a friend over so I suggested that they go out and enjoy the weather. A little later I happened to look out my bathroom window and noticed they were outside enjoying the weather and a movie on K's portable DVD player.

Back Up Plan
K and I spent three days making Valentine cookies for her class. We finally threw in the towel today and I was so glad that I had bought candy as a back up plan. Puzzle cookies with edible paper valentines that are attached with corn syrup=one big sticky mess!

Who Let the Dogs Out?
While the rest of the world was getting ready for the Super Bowl we went to a dog show with our neighbors. The kids had a great time checking out all of the different breeds of dogs. It is amazing how many different kinds of beautiful dogs there are.
It is hard to believe that the little neighbor who I used to babysit and help with his homework is now driving. And he babysits for K and helps her with her homework. Only one mishap at the dog show, he ran over a dog bone (I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried) and my neighbor's car got a flat tire. The kids were happy because it meant that we got to spend extra time at the show while waiting for tire to be fixed.

Going Nowhere
We are going nowhere around here unless it is by sled. We had several of inches of snow followed by sleet so our driveway and street are ice. No school for the past couple of days and I cannot imagine when we will be able to get back on the roads. It isn't supposed to warm up until the end of the week.
I sent K out with some bread crumbs for the birds but our cat ate the bread crumbs.

Abaco
K and I decided that we needed some sun and fun and took a spur of the moment trip to Abaco. We stayed here. This is a great place for kids without feeling like you are in a kiddie compound. The water is knee deep almost 400 feet out so the beach is like a giant kiddie pool. There are tons of fun activities including paddle boarding, kayaking, sand castle building contests, treasure hunts and a trampoline.
Our cute purple cottage
K's favorite thing was tearing around on our golf cart

Christmas 2010
K is so grown up and on the fence about Santa. I think I am more disappointed than she is. On the other hand she did a three hour marathon at mass on Christmas eve. We got there at 2PM for 4PM mass so we could get a seat. Michael joined us to help us save an entire pew. Even with a whole pew we were a little squashed with Sheila and Helen's families. After mass we went to Sheila's annual Christmas eve party. It was so much fun and we stayed much later than planned. Up early on Christmas morning and then to John and Kathryn's house for breakfast. Dinner at the Langell house is a favorite Christmas evening tradition. As dinner was ending it started snowing like crazy. We ended up with a white Christmas, unusual for Atlanta. We skipped the neighborhood Christmas night party because of the snow and we had a very early flight the next morning.
