2014!!!!

So excited for the new year.  2013 was a great year and 2014 is looking like another wonderful year.

After asking for an intervention if I ever plan to go somewhere cold, I am headed on a quick tip to France next week on a buying trip.  With a couple of days on London on the way home.

We are building a new house!  More on that later-hoping for something small but nice.

Big Island for spring break-counting the days!

Back to Scandinavia for summer vacation.  We are going to see those fjords this time!

Girls's trip to France for one of those big 0 birthdays.  Yikes!

Maybe a Singapore to Hong Kong cruise next Christmas.

Planning to stay closer to home in 2015.  Will probably be broke from the new house.

Intervention Please

Please schedule an intervention if you ever hear me mention going some where cold for Christmas!

Our trip to Sun Valley started out well. Flights on time.  Easy drive from Salt Lake City to Sun Valley.  Holy cow-the speed limit in Utah is 80 MPH.  Makes me want to move.  Sort of.

Not a ton of snow but enough man made for skiing.

 

Sleigh ride to a cabin for dinner.  Very cute place and dinner was good.  It is all a blur-I was starting to get sick.  Ride back after dinner was not so much fun!

These carolers showed up at every place we had dinner.  This cabin was in the middle of nowhere and there were the carolers.  It started to get creepy after a while.

Adams's first and last ski lesson.  He threw up right after the lesson.  I was too sick to get any pictures of the girls skiing.

Olivia got sick so she spent her vacation watching Dance Moms.

K spent a lot of the trip drawing.

I finally made it out of the hotel to Christmas dinner.  Do you like my hat?

Adam is looking a little wary of this Santa.  He also kept showing up every place.

If you look really hard one morning right after I woke up and opened our drapes I pictured Santa headed out to pack his sleigh.

Our room had a view so I watched one minute of the Nut Cracker on ice-had to head back to bed because I couldn't stand up. 

I brought a tree and lights so K could have a normal Christmas morning.

We discovered the best lobby on the second floor of our hotel.  It had fireplaces on both ends and a view of the ice rink and mountains.  That's Buddy my cousin's "service"dog.  The lobby had a piano and lots of sofas.  We ended up spending most of our trip in this lobby.  I think we all looked so scary other guest chose to hang out in the first floor lobby.

Thanksgivng

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of dinner parties and Thanksgiving.  We had some friends over for dinner the weekend before Thanksgiving.  I just reset the table and was ready for Thanksgiving!

Sheila and I had planned a champagne toast but she was late and everyone was well into their wine and we couldn't refocus them on champagne.  

I am thankful for friends but most thankful that Leticia works on Thanksgiving.  She said she worked hard but had a lot of fun.  Love her!!!

K was thankful that Charlotte and her mom made it to Atlanta for Thanksgiving

Santa stopped by our table at the St Regis while we were at a baby shower

And we had another dinner party because Louise (Mignon's sister) was in town and we were celebrating Mignon's cancer free scan!!!  We laughed about the past two years.  Little Mignon helping me load a trumeau into the van when she weighed 85 pounds.  I was the only one who told her she looked good. Now she is complaining because she weighs 110.

Naked Mole Rat

Poor Bert has been sick and had to have his neck shaved for some blood work. K says he looks like a naked mole rat. He has taken possession of this chair that came in on the Swedish shipment. He is the most amazing cat when we were at the vet they told me that I would have to bring in a urine sample. My head started to spin thinking about how I was going to accomplish that. At that moment, Bert hopped up in the sink and gave his specimen. The vet was able to grab a cup and get what she needed. What a cat!

My Ship Came In

My shipment from Sweden finally came in!  The container was due in at 8AM.  That means you have to be there at 8AM to unload.  Of all days for K's driver to have car problems.  Normally I would have just taken K to school but I gave K a lanyap and let her miss a day of school.   She helped us unload the container and unpack the boxes.  It was hard work in the 25 degree weather.  She worked really hard!  The ever reliable Winston was there to help.    Maybe K will be in the antique business when she grows up.  Hopefully she will choose something more lucrative!

Fall!

We are having a wonderful fall. Beautiful, warm days and it was hot on Halloween. K didn't dress up this year but helped hand out candy at Sheila's house. We never get any trick or treaters. Houses are too far apart and the driveways are too long. In my day (in Aspen) we trick or treated in the snow.

K and I spent an afternoon at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. They are having an amazing exhibit of living plant sculptures.
