Montenegro

I think I had forgotten that our cruise included a stop in Kotor, Montenegro.  We walked around Kotor and then took a bus to the lovely little town of Perast.  It is a small village and we opted to spend our time having a relaxing lunch.  We sat right on the water and had a beautiful view of the Lady of the Rocks church that sits on an island that is hand made of rocks.  The view was beautiful and the water was crystal clear.  I think it was the only time on the trip that we had pizza.  It was an extremely hot day and we opted not to take a boat ride out to the island to tour the church.

Sailing into Montenegro reminded me a lot of the fjords in Norway.  I got up at 4AM so I could watch the sunrise.  It was cloudy and rained a bit but still worth the effort.

Sicily

After a relaxing day at sea our next stop with Sicily.  The ship docked in Messina where we were told there was not much to do so we took an excursion to Taomini for the morning and then went to a vineyard for lunch and wine tasting in the afternoon.  Sicily reminded me a lot of southern California.

K was a little bored at the wine tasting but entertained herself drawing.

Capri

Magical!  I absolutely love Capri and it had been a while since I had been there.  We were only there for a day and had to tender so our time was much too brief.  I would have loved to have shopped but instead we walked to the end of the island and all the way to the bottom and had a coke.  The path was so slippery and I had leather sole sandals on that I finally had to take off.  We walked back and stopped at a lovely restaurant about half way back and had a delicious lunch.

I took an entire suitcase full of shoes and none of them were practical.  K complained the whole trip because she had to carry the suitcase full of shoes.

Summer!!!!!

My motto is that I will relax when I'm dead.  Summer started with 8th grade graduation in the morning, lunch with Bill and Sheila, tearing to the airport and hopping on a plane to Rome.

Loved being in the upper deck of this 747-there are only 16 seats up there.  Almost like having our our plane.  Probably as close as I will come.

The one pathetic picture that I took in Rome.  This was having lunch at the Hotel Eden.  They have a lovely rooftop restaurant with the best view in Rome.  That is the Vatican in the background.  We had a great time seeing the Vatican and climbed the stairs to the top of the Copola. It was very hot and very crowded.  The line for tickets was 4 hours-glad we bought ours online in advance.

Then we boarded a boat and set said for Capri.  I asked K if she wanted to change clothes for dinner and she gave me a funny look and stated that she was wearing a fancy shirt.  She's not a fan of pink.  So that shirt was known as the fancy shirt the rest of the trip.

They Escaped

Harrison and Becca came to visit.  We had so much fun!!!!  Burgers at Holman and Finch, ice cream at Jenni's Splendid Ice Cream (I think the listeria issue has been resolved.)  Donuts at Sublime donuts, coffee at Corso.  We played the Ultimate Escape Game and escaped with 17 seconds to spare!  Then we had a late lunch at the Varsity.  Miss these two!!!!

8th Grade Field Trip

I volunteered to help chaperone the 8th grade field trip.  We drove to Amicalola Falls and hiked 5 miles to the Len Foot Hike Inn.  It was such a fun trip.   The kids were so sweet and respectful-K really has a nice class.
The Inn was great!  I was picturing out houses and spiders.  It was clean and cosy with great bathrooms, hot showers with nice towels and really good food!

I got up early to watch the sunrise.  The others parents were still asleep but the kids were up and going strong!

 The kids loved the swing.

Herding Cats

We are fostering 3 kittens.  The term herding cats has taken on new meaning.  I had forgotten how silly and fun little kittens are.  We are having so much for with these little guys.
